Café 3440 – Austria's Highest Coffee House
Yes, we know: at Mandarfner Hof you're in excellent hands when it comes to food and drink. But we simply can't keep this culinary tip to ourselves – Café 3440, Austria's highest-altitude coffee house. It fits perfectly into a glacier ski day or makes for a wonderful summer excursion.
When heaven and earth meet, it feels pretty close to paradise. Up here you can enjoy: a breathtaking panorama of Tyrol's mountain peaks (including the majestic Wildspitze), homemade cakes and pastries from Austria's highest-altitude patisserie, and much more. The head pastry chef, by the way, swears by the cream torte with the distinctive note of native Swiss stone pine.
Getting married above the clouds? Why not! If you're looking for an extra special wedding venue, Café 3440 is definitely worth considering. Not only does the happy couple and their guests enjoy the setting – the surrounding three-thousanders look on too. It doesn't get much more romantic than that. Unless you book a suite for two at Mandarfner Hof as well. And for the workaholics among you? There's also a seminar room up at 3440. Far-reaching views – guaranteed.
How do you get to this place above the clouds?
The most comfortable way is to take the Gletscherexpress and Wildspitzbahn gondolas. For the super sporty, there's also the option to hike up partially or all the way on foot, or on ski touring skis.
Fair warning: That's quite a distance.
The coffee house on the roof of Tyrol with its panoramic terrace is open year-round (except during maintenance periods).
The current operating hours and prices for the cable cars can be found on the website of Pitztaler Bergbahnen.
